Farai Ndlovu is The Granite Post's Technology and Society Correspondent, reporting on how digital infrastructure, platform regulation, and emerging technology are reshaping everyday life across Zimbabwe and the broader southern African region.

Background

Before joining The Granite Post, Farai spent three years as a media researcher at the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA), where she monitored internet shutdowns, press freedom violations, and access to information legislation across the SADC region. Her transition into daily journalism brought that policy depth to fast-moving tech coverage.

She is based in Bulawayo and covers stories from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, with periodic reporting from South Africa's technology ecosystem in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Education

Farai holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication Studies from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo. She has completed digital rights and data journalism training with the Code for Africa initiative and the African Network of Centers for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR).

Areas of Coverage

Mobile money and fintech · Internet governance and digital rights · Technology regulation and platform policy · Cybersecurity and online safety · Startups and innovation ecosystems in southern Africa

Notable Work

Farai's investigation into SIM-swap fraud targeting EcoCash users prompted a response from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). Her series on the gender gap in Zimbabwe's technology workforce has been cited in two parliamentary portfolio committee reports on ICT development.
