Zimbabwe's annual inflation rate in the local Zimbabwe Gold currency fell to 2.9% in August from 3.2% in July, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency said on Tuesday. The month-on-month ZiG rate was 0.1%, unchanged from July.

The figures measure price changes in ZiG only. In US dollar terms, monthly inflation fell to 0.0% in August from 0.3% in July, while the annual US dollar rate held at 3.1%. Zimbabwe runs a dual-currency system and ZimStat compiles the two indices separately.

ZimStat attributed the low readings in both currencies to continued exchange rate stability during the month.
